Seriously. I know people love this place, but it's still just a grocery store.

Moderator cut: orphaned

I've been to a Trader Joe's and don't understand the hyper either, but some really like the place.

OCTOBER 2012... A MONTH THAT WILL LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO INFAMY FOREVER! But something tells me that FDR wasn't referring to Trader Joe's.

But seriously, it's nice that it's coming, but I wonder how long it will take to hear people complain about their smaller format, prices vs HEB and what they see as normal product hyped beyond reality. After all, as others have said on this thread already, it's just a grocery store. Whether Austin gets one before or after us, I don't find it a positive in being the city to get a chain 'first.'

And, don't doubt for a second that HEB isn't already developing the exact same products that TJ's sells in their own store brand. They didn't get to be this large by resting on their laurels. I've got friends who are decision makers within HEB and that ball has been rolling for awhile.

I've harped on HEB in the past for being a near-monopoly, but what they do, they do very well. Look for HEB to fight fire with fire once TJs opens up. Either way, competition is a good thing. It benefits us all.

People camped outside the doors waiting for a grocery store to open?? Geeze, and I thought I had no life!

Amazing what excites people in this town.....standing in line for an hour so you can get a free, cheap pizza that only costs $4.99 to begin with, to camping out waiting for a small grocery store to open. Really??

Default Hype,

Been to one, nice yes, don't understand what all the fuss is about either. A lot of hoopla over a market.

While I won't wait in line for opening day I am thrilled that there is another "choice" in the area to go to.
