I read today that the city is changing the Christmas lights on the River from the incandescent to LED!! If I want LED I can go sit outside and look at the neighbor's flashing all gaudy and racing around in a manner similar to a "Eat at Joe's" highway marker. Those lights are what made the river so beautiful hanging from the trees (serene and peaceful). AND they are saying they dont look good hanging from trees (ya think?) and so will put different displays on the bridges and wrap the tree trunks instead. Well welcome to San Antonio Las Vegas. Probably should put this post under "Gone but not Forgotten" category. So sad.

LED lights don't have to flash. Most lights in the stores now are either the cheaper lights or pay a little more to get LED which are a bit brighter, use less electricity and should last longer. I have changed out all my lights at home to LED but I do not have them blinking. I hate blinking holiday lights.

I think changing the lights to LED is a silly idea. The river will not look as nice and the cost will be higher.

LED lights look just fine and it won't be a big difference. They'll last longer and use less electricity. What's the big deal?

For anyone who needs to know the difference between LED and Incandescent. LED does not mean they have to flashing annoying lights.

The lights will not be in the tree branches hanging along the river. That is what made the Riverwalk so pretty. The lights also had a twinkle that was just right. Lights wrapped around the tree trunks and across the bridges is not the same and you can bet they will be flashing.
Gaudy and cheap.

If the city chooses to go gaudy and cheap that is on them. Changing to LED doesnt automatically make it gaudy or cheap. LED lights are a much "cleaner" light overall. By that I mean they are just brighter and the colors more crisp. Heck I changed the interior lights in my car to LED because they produce much nicer light.

Just another thing for people to complain about. Nothing wrong with it. Things change and people always make it out to be a bigger deal than it really is. There will be a big stink and then nobody will notice.

It's not going to look right with the lights wrapped around the tree trunks and stretched across the bridges. It's going to look pretty crappy. Kudos to the City for using LED though.

Agree, Some people dont like change, LED lights are awesome. They use less energy, and the only way to tell is by getting really close.
