I was just looking into what internet provider to go with and it says on their service plan charges that they charge 2.50 a month for the cable modem, they have a list of compatible modems that you can purchase and not get charged the equipment rental fee

Link to list of compatible modems.

Be sure to get a model that IS compatible with DOCSIS 3.0, if you have Turbo, Extreme or Ultimate.

Since the cheapest DOCSIS 3.0 modem is $75 refurbished, it would take me 30 months to recoup that investment, with no guarantee that the modem will still work after that amount of time.

I searched thru my Time Warner bill and this was today and Time Warner charges 2.50 a month for the lease of it. Go thru your entire bill and look at Current Statement charges , at the bottom of this it shows Modem Lease 2.50

6/23-07/22 DVR Service 10.99

06/23-07/22 HD Digital Video Recorder 8.99

06/23-07/22 Internet Modem Lease 2.50

Don't confuse router and modem.

IF you are having problems with your remote control, that can also be swapped no questions asked. You will also get new batteries with the new remote, so remove the ones in the remote that doesn't work.

It is a modem with a wireless router built in.

I have TWC Roadrunner Lite (3 mbps). What modem do you'll suggest I buy and a router. Something in the $20 - $30 or $40 range for each equipment.

TIA

If you see my post #22 above, you're going to pay twice that much just for the modem. I'm partial to Linksys routers, myself. Mine always seem to fail within 1-3 years, and I usually get the most life out of Linksys.
