Conio..conio..coniooooo........Does that mean that other countries learn English just to accomodate us? Maybe the Spanish only speaking ppl should learn English to they can progress as well. If I lived in a foreign country I would definitely learn their language as I have German and Korean. Not fluent but enough to get around by myself and get what I want. English is the universal language but it still wouldn't hurt those living in the good ole U.S. of A. to learn at least "some" English.

The United States of America does not have an official national language. Think I'm wrong? Look it up.

I say we are a bilingual nation based on an admittedly small personal sampling. Everywhere I go I hear people speaking either English or Spanish. I don't intend to be illiterate around half the people I meet.

Really? It's hard for you to grasp the fact that this area was Mexico until 175 years ago, and that a lot of people here still speak Spanish?

I never said it should be necessary, but there is nothing wrong with learning to speak some Spanish the same way I tried to learn some of the language in every country I was stationed in or visited during my military career.

Of course, you can always try screaming English at people, that seems to work!
