"San Antonio Most at Risk of Being “Digitally Duped,” According to AVG Technologies"

According to the article linked above, the data was sourced from 8,000 U.S. consumers.

Interesting article. My own thoughts are that the more complex technology becomes and the more end-user savvy is required to properly "lock down" their devices (phones, laptops, tablets, desktops, etc.) the less likely people are to spend the time to educate themselves on mitigating risk.

I'm often shocked at the sheer lack of attention people give to their electronic devices' security. It's not as though these devices just appeared on the market last month. Some folks appear to spend more money and time on alarms and locks for their homes and cars but don't take the time to secure their WiFi, turn off Bluetooth visibility or back up their data. Or even acknowledge the risks at all.

If you had your laptop lost or stolen, what would happen to your data? Do you have your device password protected? Or use drive-level encryption? Have a backup? A recent backup?

Be careful out there folks.....

On a lighter note, I thought I'd share this charming video to show how an older couple grapple with the mysteries of using their new laptop's webcam.

From the looks of it, most of my neighbors with wireless routers know nothing (or don't care) about WEP or WPA2 and encryption. Very sad.

RD is on a roll! He's definitely someone who "gets it". Now, time to move away, eh?

We can't get rid of those types fast enough around here, yet some still tend to stink the place up despite the fact that they've moved away from here over a year ago!

What a great life you must be having out in California that you spend all of your time trolling the San Antonio forum!

I wonder if you're hot. My guess is "no". Otherwise, you might have more interesting things to do than stay on here all day when you're in CALIFORNIA!!!

From the looks of it I can see 16 routers around me, all are either WEP or WPA/WPA2...

It would be interesting to see how this "survey" was conducted, it seems it's an excellent marketing ploy...

To Soviet and majormadmax, you ever stop to think even if they are in California their heart is in San Antonio?

Is there some rule on this thread that you can participate only if you live in San Antonio? Please point this rule out...

The comment on "hot" was juvenile...

Thanks for the compliment! That's what I was going for!

Furthermore, if their <3s were in SA......why are they always complaining about it? Words for thought.

On the Insert tab, the galleries include items that are designed to coordinate with the overall look of your document. You can use these galleries to insert tables, headers, footers, lists, cover pages, and other document building blocks. When you create pictures, charts, or diagrams, they also coordinate with your current document look.

You can easily change the formatting of selected text in the document text by choosing a look for the selected text from the Quick Styles gallery on the Home tab. You can also format text directly by using the other controls on the Home tab. Most controls offer a choice of using the look from the current theme or using a format that you specify directly.

To change the overall look of your document, choose new Theme elements on the Page Layout tab. To change the looks available in the Quick Style gallery, use the Change Current Quick Style Set command. Both the Themes gallery and the Quick Styles gallery provide reset commands so that you can always restore the look of your document to the original contained in your current template.

Sadly, it is part of the “Don’t Care” mentality in SA.
