BRB LOL'ing.

srsly, where do you get your data from? my healthcare in the last decade has not changed. if anything, its gotten better and offers a lot more now than it did back when we first signed up for it.

just recently, my plan is now offering a long-term plan with huge discounts. granted, theyve always offered it, but now it has more perks and the price went DOWN.

yeah, healthcare is going down

We were discussing healthcare for medicare and medicaid folks, not private insurance. I'm sure that your government plan works very well.

your message that i responded too said that they had cheapened the quality of healthcare in this city. my experiences contradict that.

surely, you have some citations proving the 'cheapening' of medical services that youre discussing, right?

for "seniors" on medicare. I see it almost everyday. If you get out in the poor community, there are always stories of elderly not getting a specialist referral when needed when on Wellmed. On the other hand, there are stories of those on Medicare and Medicaid (full coverage) not getting proper attention from the docs. Wellmed provides enough of the good touchy feely stuff and free stuff to keep the seniors on board. They do a very good job at that.

your experiences are not proof that medical care is 'cheapening' for them.

why did they buy and build up two hmo's only to sell them off and what will happen to all those employee's?

Because the purpose of a company is to make money. Either they werent making money with them and wanted to dump them or they saw a profit to be made and acted. As far as the employees I dont remember what happened after the fact.

I believe that most of the employees remain since Wellmed is the medical group, although some marketing positions were eliminated since those were duplicated by the HMO that bought them.

The worse problem these days is the fact that the uber titanic United Healthcare is able to buy up these large medical groups (here, Calif, florida and the northeast) with its pocket change and control the utilization from the clinic level on up to the CEO fat cats at the top, squelching competition. I don't think that it's a good sign of what is to come.
Rapier, greedy SOB that he is, is finally selling out when he can get the most. That's as American as motherhood, bigotry and apple pie.
