Would anyone be able to highly recommend a stylist for me and my two girls? We do not require any fancy services, just regular wash/trim/layer cut...etc. I would prefer the price to be under 20.00 if possible but not from a chain store like Rios Golden Cuts. We live in Universal City.
Thanks.

When I lived on the NE side, I used to take my daughters to the beauty school on Naco Perrin for their haircuts. They charged $3 and the students always did a great job, much better than a quick chop at Rios.

I don't think the students get any portion of the $3, so I always made sure to tip them also.

That school has changed names about 5 times in the past 10 years. LOL.

I have had great luck with the Aveda Institute at Pearl Brewery. But be prepared as they do take their time to make sure it is perfect. For less than $20 I got a wash, cut, dry and style --- plus they used the Aveda products. My hair looked fabulous.

(FYI ... I would say I was there about 2 hours, but I enjoyed the attention and pampering!)

I love Aveda but I go to K Charles (Stone Oak). My hair sylist (Elizabeth) is now a Master Stylist so her price is $62. I have been with her since she was a Junior Sylist. K Charles is a non-gratuity salon so you don't have to worry about tipping. I would recommend setting up an appointment with a junior stylist.

Junior Stylists
cut only - $27
with finishing - $42*
children under 6 - $14
