What are some good Italian restaurants on the North side/North Central or thereabouts? Got any recommendations?

Met a cutie who likes Italian food! We'll see if she likes Russian men, though

I'm originally from the New England area, grew up on Italian food and have visited Italy many times. For me, the restaurant that comes the closest to replicating the flavors I've experienced is Milano's at the corner of Wurzbach and Lockhill Selma.

Nice, romantic ambience, ideal for a first date. Good value, decent wine list. A nice balance of upscale and authenticity without being über expensive or snobby.

I have relatives that live in the greater NYC area and have eaten in Little Italy and in some of the best Italian restaurants in NYC and they always ask to go to Milano's when they visit San Antonio.

I've eaten at several of the other establishments that have been mentioned in this thread and haven't been impressed; several were too focused with their image to deliver a decent value while another's interpretation of Italian cuisine was comical to say the least.

That's just my take on what I feel is the best Italian in the San Antonio area, your mileage may vary but urge you to at least give it a try.

And for your date, I wish you Удачи!

If you are not trying to impress with opulence - try the Cafe Milano's. NOT Milanos on Wurzbach - which has the same food with a few more expensive dishes but much more expensive - and very variable service.

The Cafe Milano's are worth the money.

I grew up in Boston and New York, an am a bit of an Italian food "snob". That being said, I found the food at "Scuzzi's" on 1604 to be quite good - better than the overpresented but bland fare at Paesano's. Italian food in Texas tends to be marked by 3x portion size, garlic and salt, but I have always been relatively impressed by Scuzzi's.

If you take her to Zio's or Rome's Pizza, she will be gone the next day.
