I think it's a no-brainer. The city dropped more than 12 million on that waste of Main Plaza. $10 million to bring back the gardens needs to get done.

*sigh* nevermind.

This situation is like the last Drive-In standing in San Antonio,...the City will probably do something totally different with it.

I saw so many great shows at the gardens. Tool, Cypress Hill, Deftones, and my favorite was Rage Against The Machine. Old people look those up They destroyed that place and I was up front and had a headache for a week after that show. Or maybe it was the beer that did that??? Anyway, I still think that venue is rowdy! Only tricky thing was trying to get down those narrow stairs to go to the men's room. If you had a few too many you could end up falling down them. Also saw Pearl Jam and countless others there.

As far as I'm concerned, there is really nothing to renovate other than seating, which I heard was removed not too long ago. It is what it is, it will always be hot in the summer and there will always be dirt, you can't (and shouldnt) pave the whole thing, and grass wont grow there (or anywhere in SA this year). You could expand the grounds on one side only, which would help the festivals/venders, but wouldnt increase the stage viewing area, but may provide for a second stage. I understand that some of the musucuains area were fixed up not to far back, they could prob stand some more work. As far as acts, it best supports rock bands and "rowdy" festivals, and thats fine by me. In fact, SAXON, UFO, LTA FORD and a host of other longtime SA favs will perform there tonight and tomorrow

If they put a humongous roof overhead (like the former "Verizon Wireless Amphitheater") then problem solved.

I think we need to enlist the help of more local philanthropists so that Sunken Gardens could come to life and up to modern standards.

Not to mention Everclear and the Toadies! That was such a great time back in the 90s. Saw Yngwie play there a couple times in the 80s as well.
