Since there has been great conversations in ocal threads here in Wall St. March on Travis Park and good conversations in the Wallmart Vs Target thread, I want to share this since it has to do with both threads, jobs, products made over seas, etc....

Yeah the cheap wages finally caught up to China although there are other countries still with low wages. I have a friend that makes awnings and most of his hardware and fittings were coming from China along with the canvas. That just disappeared for the Chinese and he is now buying in the USA. He's looking at moving his operation to San Antonio from the Northeast. Wages here are among the lowest, productivity among the highest. Your going to be seeing a lot of new company logos in San Antonio and in Texas. As long as we can keep the unions out of Texas, our citizens make decent wages and treated fairly, keep up our good working ethics, we have no place to go but up. I can only hope that our local Gov't officials see this growth coming and start planning the infrastructure now. Our expressway system is already taxed and new super streets need to be planned and started. They also need to be limiting access to streets from shopping centers. Good example is the mess at Wurzbach and IH 10. Who dreamed up that nightmare of traffic lights on Wurzbach within several hundred feet of each other. They need to hire someone with half a clue about how to time traffic lights as well to keep traffic moving. Want to lower auto emissions? Keep the traffic moving- pretty simple solution.

with the Chinese labor costs rising and the increase in shipping costs, it is becoming more cost effective to move manufacturing to the US. It also provides quicker access to get things to the market for new products or changes in products.
Manufacturers are working on costs and profits. That's always been the American driving force.
