I haven't bothered downloading the app to read them because I've heard most of them are useless. I think it's a cool idea that people haven't quite figured out how to use very well yet. As more and more people get smart phones, I think they'll become more common and more useful.

We use in them in school too...sort of an electronic scavenger hunt. Great for leading kids through stations or rotations, or other activities.

No useful ones yet either. Usually they take you to a website and you have to fill in all the contact information before you get the dangled "discount".

Besides, to me, the discounts aren't worth it.

Will hafta admit my ignorance on this subject, as I haven't even downloaded the app. I was thinking it was a bit cumbersome and with limited usage, but the ability to scan the code on someone's biz card and it automatically go into your contacts is pretty cool!
I use them for real estate flyers, etc. I'm not convinced they have a whole lot of effect. A lot of people haven't caught on, but it's easy to make one and include it on marketing materials so you might as well just in case. You never know...that QR code might bring you a buyer or seller.
