I've Googled, but nothing has come up that is relevant to me, so I turn to CD to help me! I'm looking to rescue some guinea pigs, but I cannot find a rescue shelter in San Antonio that rescues/adopts them. I can only seem to find shelters in Austin and Dallas/Ft Worth.

Does anyone know of anywhere in SA at all?

Do you mean that you want to adopt some, or are you looking to get rid of some? Either way, the pet section on Craigslist might be helpful. Just remember, if you're getting rid of them, you've got to describe your selling price as a "rehoming fee" or the ad will get flagged.

As I said, I'm looking to rescue some - So yeah, adopt some. I've checked out CL, but all of the ones listed are either no longer available or people are just not replying to my emails (as they leave no # for me to contact).

This is one local rescue that takes small animals: hayleehaven I don't know anything about them, good or bad, except that they used to ask for donations on craigslist.

Looks like they only have dogs and horses up for adoption right now, but I'll get in touch with them just to double check. Thanks :]

Try looking on www.petfinder.com. It looks like only a place that is advertising is in round rock, but i would just go to the humane societies in town, or call and ask. They may not advertise such small animals...

austin might be your best bet for any official rescue. if nothing else, get in contact with them (Austin Guinea Pig Rescue) and let them know you're looking to adopt in the san antonio area. i would wager they have more information and probably also handle some rescues from our area since no other guinea pig specific rescue seems to be around. they can probably alert you if someone from san antonio is looking to rehome a guinea pig. also, get in contact with local animal shelters who handle small animals and let them know you are interested in being contacted when someone brings in a guinea pig.

i think that's the most you can do short of actively browsing and posting to places like craigs list. i see a few in the on there who are trying to rehome them.

If you're still looking for a guinea pig, there's an ad for a longhaired male on CL Long hair guinea pig (http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/pet/2675561863.html - broken link)

Can you not find any on petfinder? I have one that I have been fostering and I am looking for a home for it. I have contacted the rescue organization here in DFW, but they are too full. If you would like this one, his name is Carrotts, I will meet you in Austin or something! I have read that they do better with other guinea pigs because they are social. So you could start with this one and maybe get more.

Are you still looking? We have 2 sisters, very sweet; we just don't have the time to play with them like they deserve.
