The only thing about Craig's list is that any bike you buy will probably need new tubes and a tune-up and it's hard to find one on CL when you're not very tall.

If you do go that route, the better bikes are sized by frame size rather than just by wheel size. My daughter is 5' tall and her bike has a 14" frame, to give you some idea of the sizes to look for...you'll have to try a bike to know if it will fit you, and if you go look at one on CL and it doesn't fit you, don't feel like you have to buy it anyhow.

FYI, adult bikes have one standard wheel size. It is youth bikes that differ.

We have bought many bikes through Craig's List (even high end racing bikes) and if you buy a solid brand and do your research, the bike is usually well worth fixing up.

I would recommend against CL unless you are an experienced biker. Yes, you can find good deals, but it's also easy to buy the wrong bike or miss important problems. A reputable store will help you find the best bike for your intended use, size, budget.

It's like buying a used car...if you don't know much abour cars, you may end up buying a lemon and have no guarantee.
