The Mariaches are very popular in San Antonio restaurants. I am alway's fascinated with the guitars they use. They are mostly nylon strings ( or something) kinda like what Willie Nelson uses ( I think). Where do they get these things? Alamo music? I don't see them there but they might be there. I saw a spanish twelve string in a pawn shop that was unplayable but they still wanted a lot of money for it.

It depends on if you are talking about the classical guitar or the vihuela. The strings used on the classical guitar that the mariachis (no 'E' in mariachi) use regular classical guitar strings with the wound core E,A,D strings and nylon G,B,E strings. The vihuela on the other hand, uses only nylon strings, the strings that are used can be either specially made in sets for the vihuela, or, most professionals will custom "build" there own sets to their preferred tension by using the nylon classical guitar strings in various combinations.

The neck was loose like maybe somebody dropped it. It wouldn't stay in tune. I think they wanted 200.00 dollars for it and then it would still have to be repaired. Maybe they are really expensive to buy.
