Hi all,

I'm new to San Antonio and I'm looking for a great place to spend New Years Eve this year. We're looking for somewhere downtown where HOPEFULLY we can pay a flat rate for an open bar and then have a champagne toast at midnight, but I haven't found anything like that yet...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I actually live in in Hemisview Village, so my apartment will become a very small hotel within walking distance to downtown. :-)

great answer!

sorry I can't help you out with your original question, though. It is good to have some responsible people moving here; this place can use them...

Your best bet is to crash a wedding reception.

The Bonham has a buffet and midnight Champagne toast/party favors. If you are comfortable in a gay club. Many straight people go, as well.

It appears Pat Obrien's fits your bill. I think they are open bar, the web site is slightly vague.

Maybe this helps but a few years ago when I was in SA for New Years, some friends and I were walking around dwntwn and found quite a few hotel bars that do that. I don't know if totally open bar but the one we wound up going into, Valencia I think, had cheap liqour and a buffet. Champange at midnight. Then we walked back to our hotel. My parents though have gone to some hotel out off of 151 and Westover Hills (Hyatt I think) and they have a buffett/bar thing there that they like. So try the hotels too. Might find something.

Good luck!
