Leon Springs is probably the best place to live in San Antonio although a little more expensive it is worth it but you could definitely find a house within the 200s here. Anything in Alamo heights, northern part of 281, area of 1604 is mostly good until you start hitting the more southwest or southeast parts of towns, helotes, Boerne, castle hills, shavano park, king Williams, stone oak, Ingram park mall, Alamo ranch, is good. Also a little farther to live but San Marcus, new braunfels, bulverde, and castroville are great places to live.

Default relocating to san antonio

Hello,

We are looking to relocate to san antonio from san diego california in a year and I was wondering what are the areas that you recommend for a nurse and military retiree. I am a registered nurse and looking for an area that is less congested, nice, homes are in the $200,000 price range, and within 20 minute drive to all shopping centers and major locations. Which hospitals are the best to work for? Which areas will we get more property for our money?

I appreciate all your suggestions!
Thank you

lexnjazz, there are quite a few hospitals around here, not sure what are the best.
You might check out the websites for like the Baptist Health System, Christus Santa Rosa (run by the Sisters of charity of the Incarnate Word) Methodist Health Care System ,Fort Sam Houston,(military) University Hospital,The Nix Hospital Brady Green, etc.
There is a new Baptist Emergency Hospital out on IH35 here in Schertz. Homes out here run about 100k to 200k in price range.
We have a YMCA,library, and several parks. There is shopping at The Forum at Olympis Hills, plus you can drive about 12 miles or so to New Braunfels to CreekSide which has TJMAXX, Belk,a movie theatre, etc. You can also go shopping in Gruene, which is near New Braunfels and eat at the Grist Mill on the banks of the Guadalupe River and if you love water you can go to Schlitterbahn .It is for me about a 20 mile drive to San Antonio. It's not really that far. There are various malls in San Antonio, the closest one for me is Rolling Oaks Mall, plus Retama Racetrack.
I would look up first where some of these hospitals are located at.That might decide where you live. Before moving you might send them a resume and see which one bites.
Also trulia.com and zillow.com,both realtor websites show you houses and prices .These can vary depending on what side of town you are on.
