He has strain B and I have no idea if the flu shot covers that strain. The doctor said it's the first strain B she's seen of the season and they've been getting strain A. We don't get flu shots because we have had bad reactions to the shot but we usually don't get the flu either. We mostly get strep in our house. The doctor gave us Tamiflu, something for cough and something for nausea because strain B usually causes stomach problems on top of everything else.

Thanks! He's actually doing much better today than yesterday. He couldn't move yesterday. I had to go back to the doctor today for my daughter and myself, though

My grandfather did today. Even with the flu shot. I'm not too sure of the strain since I haven't had the chance to see his notes but either way, the flu shot is starting to become weaker and weaker in treating various types of strains. Since he's in his late 80's, I did suggest to have him hospitalized since it's so easy for the elderly to lose track of treatment as well as small children.

But as I ALWAYS tell my family and friends, wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. I do that and always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with me. Watch where you place your hands in relation to your face, ie keep hands out of mouth. If you take vitamins, take some extra Vitamin C. If not, eat or drink foods that have it in abundance. I had a professor once who said to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. A properly balanced water to sodium level in your body helps, in some, to ward off infection. But it never hurts to drink plenty of water. The biggest thing I've seen, especially at work, are people who don't stay home when they're ill. I know with the push of employers not wanting workers to miss or the feel that we MUST work or the threat of losing a days pay is tough, sometimes the best thing for everyone, inlcuding the sick person, is to stay home. We had a researcher who was known for his work ethic and he came in when he was soo sick with a bad flu and he wound up getting everyone ill throughout the course of 5 months until it eventually went back to him and getting him sick again. Now, my boss is a slight germaphobe and if you even gets a feeling that your sick, he'll politely suggest for you to go home.

Anyways, I hope all affected start feeling better soon.
