Tonight on the first leg of a trip on 1604, traffic was moving at about 5-10 under, like usual. On the way back, it was moving at the speed limit. Guess the saying is true about blind squirrels...

Blind squirrels? I don't get the analogy, what nut did they find?!?

And most of the time I see traffic on 1604 moving at 5-10 over, if not more. About the only exception to that is during rush hour, but on average most people are going above the speed limit on the outer loop. That is the problem with these increased enforcement initiatives, they do have an impact but it is usually short-lived and the positive effects quickly diminish.

What is needed is constant enforcement of the traffic laws around here, thus making the roads safer for all of us!

Cheers! M2

Speaking of constant enforcement...

I had a thread a few months ago about a speeding ticket I got, in which there was no speed limit sign. I mailed in a not guilty plea, took pictures, drew up a map, and was ready to present my defense. I felt that whenever there's a speed limit change, there should be signs that let drivers know, especially coming from major (well, somewhat major) intersections.

What ultimately happened was
1) The officer never turned the ticket in, so there will be no court date.
2) The county DID put a speed limit sign up. This happened about two weeks ago.

I was very happy to see the sign. It's still slower than I think it should be, but that's just my own opinion. It was excellent to see Bexar Co. do the right thing.
