Does anyone have a recommendation for a person who can install
ceiling fans? The ceilings are already blocked for the fans. They
are new installations. One room has a 12 foot ceiling. The other room
is 9 foot, and the 3rd room, the fan is already hanging, but not connected.
Please PM me with any recommendations. I live close to La Cantera
on the northwest side.

Thanks!

I have gotten in the habit of checking craigslist lately. You can usually find whatever you need on there.

Be sure to ask to see their license. I've known some "contractors" who said they were licensed, hoping no one would follow up on it.

Installing ceiling fans to existing already pre wired mounts is relatively easy. You might have neighbors that can give you a hand if pricing were an issue; otherwise, any handyman type of person would be fine.

I have installed ceiling fans in my three bedrooms and in the den. It is very easy. I too have nine foot ceilings in my house with a 12 foot vault in the living room. All you need is a screw driver and some basic know how to assemble things. This is one thing I would never pay someone to do.

I put 6 of them up in my house and have replaced four so far, so that brings me to 10.. The first one was by far the worst, but by now I can do it with my eyes closed. You save a LOT of money doing it yourself.. but if you insist on paying, both Home Depot and Lowes offer the service and of course has a guarantee

If you have a ladder, I would be happy to help out.
I am strictly an amateur but I have put up about 5 or so in the last few years.

Default Found a contractor

Sabex, thanks for the offer to help. I have a 6 foot ladder, but do not
have one to handle the 12 foot ceiling.

I contacted an electrical contractor. First 1/2 hour is $80.00, then
$20/15 minutes after the first 1/2 hour. This contractor is licensed
and will do a good job installing the fans.

I know I could save money doing it ourselves, but DH is currently
on the Outer Banks of NC surfing for the week. He will have no
interest in working on fans when he gets home late Sat. night!

The contractor I hired charged me $35 per fan.

If you have the remote controlled fans, change the jumper sequence from the factory defaults. Your neighbors may have the same brand of fan (same jumper settings). Their signal may be extending far enough to control your fan.
