There are at least 7 cars on my street alone that park on or across the sidewalk. Yes, I said on, as in they pull alongside the curb, then up and onto the sidewalk.

It bothers me because we have to go out into the street when we go for our walk. I'd much rather keep myself, my wife and my three young children on the sidewalk. After all, that's what it's there for.
I'm in Westcreek too and haven't noticed any parking tickets. The only tickets they usually give here is not coming to a complete stop at stop signs. Though I think they should give warnings to people who walk/jog on Military Drive West in the bike lane. I'm surprised no one has been hit yet as many times as the wood fences on this street have been taken out.

In the City of San Antonio, a vehicle cannot remain parked on the street for more than 24 continuous hours, without moving it.

Again, this applies to City of San Antonio only, and unincorporated areas in the County or suburban cities may or may not have similar ordinances. Alamo Heights, for example, hasn't allowed overnight street parking for decades.

This may be my sleeplessness-induced ignorance, but how is parking against the flow of traffic (in a low-traffic-density suburban neighborhood) a hazardous situation?

For one thing, it means when the driver pulls over to the curb, then later pulls away, they would be facing into any oncoming traffic. If there is another vehicle parked in front of the vehicle that is parked the wrong way when it wants to leave, the driver has a harder time seeing oncoming traffic around the other parked vehicle, because they are on the "curb" side, rather than the traffic side. Also, all vehicles are required to have red reflectors on the rear, but not the front. At night this could make vehicles parked facing the wrong direction difficult to see by oncoming traffic.

When it never happens and all of a sudden it happens without any neighborhood complaints, then yes its the city stuffing its pockets. Not saying it shouldnt be done, but like I said if its out of the blue, then its revenue generating. Ive seen police roll by illegally paked cars all the time and never stop. Just find it suspicious this is being enforced unless there has been complaints

Honestly, why does every instance of law enforcement end up with accusations that it is revenue-generation for the city? How much money do you think the city is pulling in with a few random enforcements of the parking code?!?

If there is one thing that you cannot accuse San Antonio of, it is excessive enforcement of traffic laws. If the city were intent on adding to its coffers through that method, then there would be a drastically noticeable increase in patrol vehicles on the major avenues around the city; but truth be told I see someone pulled over by the police maybe once a week whereas I see idiot drivers speeding recklessly on our roads several times daily.

And of course, it's never the fault of the individual who is breaking the law in the first place, is it?!?

I wish they would come to my neighborhood. Probably half the cars on the street are parked the wrong direction. Some are broken down and facing the wrong direction for about a year now.

Anyone else watch Parking Wars?

Doing something like that here in SA would break these people's bad parking habits.
