Three reasaons:

1. I wanted to be close to my family.
2. San Antonio is not too far away from the coast or Houston.
3. San Antonio is a big city with a small town feel.

Inexpensive real estate, no snow, solid economy, big city amenities, small town atmosphere, diverse population, close enough to beach without direct hurricane threat, short drive to wine/hill country, you can be in the "country" without driving to through tacky, soulless suburbs.

Actually I was born and raised here but I wouldn't mind moving away. I would move to Fairbanks Ak, Seoul Korea or maybe somewhere in England. Or maybe Killeen. I liked it there...

IF we leave SA for a few years (and we will maintain our home here for sure!) it will ONLY be to allow us to live in Europe for 3-5 yrs time and REALLY travel Europe. Having lived in Asia for 21 yrs and having the opportunity to travel there extensively, that would pretty much complete our "bucket list".

Sounds like an awesome plan!

I came for a job, and I've avoided some opportunities to leave because I like it here. Not sure I'll stick around forever, but I'll be pretty happy if I do--unless global warming truly roasts this part of the country!
