you can have dallas AND houston. let's throw Austin in here............

I loved Austin in the 60s 70s.

again, I dread even to drive through Austin in this day and age.

SATx these daze - the politicians are all for surcharges, fees, HOA style, property value escalation....

butt, ha ha ha, we're not raising your taxes.

I would love to be 16 again, butt, I'd want it to be 1965 again.

God forbid I would be 16 years old today.

Thank you God in December I will be 3 times old enough to buy beer.

as you mentioned in an earlier posting -

"There was almost nothing outside of loop 410 in 1970 but wilderness,
jackrabbits, and deer."

so, just to get back to the point of this thread -

GBNF *Photos*

I will post a photo of me from the late 60s...

riding a bicycle that I built *just outside of Loop 410*.......
.
.

.
.
as a side note - in the early 1960s, for my Boy Scout bicycling merit badge

my brother and I left from near the intersection of San Pedro and Oblate.

50 mile trip to Medina Lake and part way back.

who in their right mind, today, would send an 11 year old kid

to ride a single speed 26" Schwinn from SP&Oblate to the Medina Lake Dam??

wouldn't make it to Loop 410 w/o being run down and killed stone cold dead...............

coker loop west. i remember it well. that section of road is closed off now. it is where the wurzbach parkway is coming through. i lived in the area of loop 410 and west ave./vance jackson area. my parents bought a house in a new subdiv.(at that time), about 8-10 blocks south of 410, inside the loop. there was absolutely NOTHING on the other side of the loop. if fact, loop 410 at that time was flat. if you drove north on either west ave. or vance jackson, you had to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, before you drove across the loop.

I've been all around the static displays at Lackland in the past including the SR-71 Blackbird. Without a camera naturally. Now I'm awaiting a DOD friend of BIL's to get me in. It's one wicked aircraft.

I spot a telephone with a rotary dial.

I believe it was HemisFair68 (GBNF) not hemisphere 1968.

and, I do believe this posting would be more appropriately placed in this active thread.....
