Per Wiki:

"Dallas has a humid subtropical climate, though it is located in a region that also tends to receive warm, dry winds from the north and west in the summer, bringing temperatures well over 100 °F (38 °C) at times and heat-humidity indexes soaring to as high as 117 °F (47 °C). When only temperature itself is accounted for, the north central Texas region where Dallas is located is one of the hottest in the United States during the summer months, usually trailing only the Mojave Desert basin of Arizona, southern Nevada, and southeastern California."
It wasn't very dry this year! We have had so much rain over the summer. The Trinity River reached flood stage a lot of times!

Interesting article.

The author says:
"It is not just a regional thing, either. Even look just within the state of Texas, where Austin is held up as a bastion of right thinking urbanism next to sprawlvilles like Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston."

Here's another one of these huge misconceptions. All of these cities sprawl, including Austin! Austin sprawls less, but it's a much smaller city in population too. And imagine that both Dallas and Houston have a higher WalkScore than Austin!

"While Austin is far more diverse than a place like Portland, it is still much whiter than other major Texas cities, comparable only to Fort Worth. And while its African-American population lags the national average, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston both exceed it."

Austin is a lot more diverse than it used to be. I wouldn't compare it to Portland.

Quantity doesn't always equal quality...

Dallas just so happens to have larger suburbs (small cities actually) & so many of them (that suck the blood out of Dallas) as opposed to Houston which has a lot less suburbs & a MUCH larger urban core & is the epicenter for everything in the Houston Metro.

1. Houston
2. Houston; it has the best suburbs that are connected with Houston, and not 100K-300K minor cities scattered across its MSA.
3. Dallas, then Houston. But just in general, i wouldnt know about the legal field.
4. Thats subjective
5. San Antonio or Houston.

Dallas has the best suburbs? I'm not sure if Dallas has a suburb quite like The Woodlands in Houston. True, they're larger population wise but its at the expense of Dallas.

If youre talking about the Waterway Area of Woodlands with its developments and buildings, than i think Irving, specifically Las Colinas would be Dallas' version.

Southlake is Dallas' answer to The Woodlands.
