We took a Sunday drive out to see the new Homegoods Store off of 281 & Stone Oak Parkway. First, shouldn't have visited on Grand Opening Day... it was insane and packed! I plan to go back during a week day because I liked what I was able to see.
However, what really impressed us was the area as a whole... The Village at Stone Oak is a beautiful shopping center. We were able to drive around and look at the construction and see what stores are coming in. Why can't we get something like that on the west side?? Instead of the cookie-cutter "box" stores... The Village is pedestrian-friendly and very modern. The quality and selection of stores is wonderful... I think we will see a few of those same stores in Alamo Ranch, but not many of them. This center has more the type of shopping you find in the Quarry. Do the developers think this side of town would frequent such stores?
I guess for now we will have to drive 45 min each way.

I could not agree more. I'm also pleased with what they did to that area.
I'm also looking forward for the other sites planned in the other 3 corners of 281/stone oak. Should be really nice, not the typical big box retail shops.

Do you have an estimate as to when the Borders Bookstore will be opening at The Village at Stone Oak? Or the Coldstone Creamery? I'm looking forward to being able to shop at both.

Thanks,
Gene

I just saw a note in the Clocking In blog (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/clockingin/2008/02/tjx_companies_opens_its_first.html - broken link) that a combined Homegoods/TJ Maxx store will open at the end of this month at The Rim. Apparently, it'll be the very first combo store in the entire chain.
