Hi! I will be moving to San Antonio in a few months and will be seeking employment opportunities when I get there. I am a 30'ish lesbian with twins, just came off of 10 years of Active Duty and have a degree in Criminal Justice. I am not particularly looking to be in Law Enforcement (have already done that) primarily because I don't want to work a varied schedule. I need to have a stable schedule due to my twins, and don't want to be on call. I am willing to branch out in other fields but would like a few starting points. Any suggestions on gay friendly working environments would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you!

San Antonio is an overall gay friendly city. Interesting fact, San Antonio is the number one city in terms of gay adoption households, percentage wise.

Just find a job you like and you'll be fine.

If I had advice for you on where to work with a criminal justice degree, I would be employed in a better paying job. I'll probably end up applying for SAPD or Bexar County Detention because those seem to be the only options left. Once I find a job after graduate school, I am out of here.

Sadly, San Antonio is the only major city in the US has yet to include sexual preference in their discrimination hiring practice, so definitely get a feel for the environment while interviewing.

USAA, HEB, QVC and other major employers in town all offer partner benefits and are considered 'friendly' by HRC standard. With a little web research, you can access the whole list.

Welcome to SA!

If you are former active duty, try USAA, being former military is a huge help in getting a foot in the door; they are "gay friendly" benefits are allowed to be shared with your partner, the pay and benefits are both among the highest/best in the city.
