Falcon Really a great car to beef up. I've known of 302cid, 351 cid and even 390 cid
engines transplanted into those little cars ,without much alteration - they would really run.
A great sleeper type street racer. With three passengers in a 65' Sprint, friend Bruce, left a road runner
by four lengths on Austin Highway @ 1972. It was souped up, but mildly.
Trapper, I don't know where in Michigan your wife is from, but let me say, Detroiters are the most car crazy people I have ever seen. Hot Rods and Cruisers are all over, all summer long there in the suburbs. Lots and Lots of them.
Far car crazier that San Antonians.
Winter is another matter altogether, they are stored.
I never saw anything like it. From Model T's to Sixties and Seventies Cruisers
people there will customize anything. Cars that shoudn't be invested in in my opinion- they
will fix up. Some even know better, and will admit it.
Not even to mention the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise. I would never go anywhere near the thing . Estimated one milion show up annually. From all over the country too. Now they hold "Cruises" all over the Detroit metro area. The McDonalds there in Royal Oak,mi on Woodward Ave. has a 1957 Chevy inside of the Restaurant. They celebrate the car culture all summer long there. Woodward Cruise is the largest one day automotive event in the world.According to wikipedia 1.5 million showed up last year, I just read. People line the street , Woodward is a Boulevard like 281 North Superstreet, for 20 miles on lawn chairs.
That would be like the entire population of San Antonio showing up.
Of course they would do that, it is the Motor City.

sounds like this small suburb town in PA called pottstown; used to be a 5 mile cruise strip (the main road through the town, high steet) where summers and all year weekend nights, you couldn't cross the street for muscle cars, hot rods, rail jobs....)
