I know of a couple that have had their car stolen from there. The way it's laid out, the lots are so remote and there's very little foot traffic. It's a thief's dream. I wish they'd install security cameras all over the parking lots.

They have cameras everywhere-- they just won't let you use them if its not their property involved....

I think crime happens at almost all the malls, sometimes the crooks outsmart the security guys.

It's a big place. If security drives past, then the crook knows they're good for a while because it will take a while to get through the parking lot. Or they can have an accomplice sitting in a parked car with a cell phone, somewhere where they'd see the security truck coming and be able to alert the crook to hide or just look like they're trying to get their car door unlocked until security passes by.

Also, it doesn't take more than a few seconds for a crook to break a car window and grab something.

And this one, and the similiar thread about Cheddar's, aren't robberies, even though they're titled that way. They're about theft. A robbery is when someone demands your belongings or money, an armed robbery is when they use a weapon to demand it, or imply that they have a weapon. A theft is when your stuff is taken when you're not there. It would be more disturbing if these were actual robberies.

There was an interview on TV last night with the man who was robbed at La Cantera. It seems the thief followed him from the Apple store to his car, then robbed him at gunpoint.
