Are there any Dog Parks in the Northwest area of San Antonio? I have a small dog and he likes to be around other dogs not to mention It is boring just walking around the neighborhood. Sometimes I have to watch out for traffic, loose dogs and hostile neighbors.

Hardberger is on NW Military and Huebner. That's kind of North Central. I haven't heard of anything more northwest, like westover hills or potranco/culebra or anything like that, though.

There's a dog park at Tom Slick park, at 151 just inside 410. It's pretty nice. Take some bug spray if you go in the evenings though.

It's not technically a dog park, but dogs are allowed at Eisenhower Park, and there are always a lot of dog walkers. Especially on the main trail.

This is a pretty good space. Separate areas for both small and large dogs. Benches and tables for the humans as well.

Just please bring along provisions to clean up after your dog. The trails at OP Schnabel are usually littered with "bombs" that a few inconsiderate people feel they don't need to take care of!

Cheers! M2

There are only 6 dog parks in the entire city.

City of San Antonio | Official Web Site - Parks & Recreation Department

Pearsall Park Dog Park - 4700 Old Pearsall Road appears to be the closest park to the Northwest side, but it's more southwest.

I'm on Bandera and 1604 so I guess OP Schnabel is the closest (even though the terrain might be rougher) or NW Military and Huebner. I am surprised S.A. doesn't have too many parks for dogs but then again I don't think they have many parks in general. Thanks for the responses.

Not a lot of parks?!? Take a look at this map, there's more than you probably realize!
