Is this the only part of the country with crazy yield signs at freeway interchanges?
Why not just the simple merge?
I don't understand all the stopping.

If no one is coming on the road you have to yield to, then a stop is not required. Even if they are and there is enough space you can slow down and yield without stopping.

You only have to stop if: the road is such that there is only room for the car with the right of way and you (you see a lot of these off 1604), or if traffic is backed up and you must stop to wait for it to clear when yielding.

What can mess this up are people unfamiliar with the system who stop coming off the highway because they don't trust that they will be yielded to (I see this a lot in Fair Oaks/Boerne), or worse, the fool who never yields and causes a bad accident. I have also experienced this but you can usually tell when they are not going to slow down so luckily have avoided an actual wreck.

There are some locations where you will see a combination of the above or not, it varies by street so be careful out there and don't forget to yield!

I have lived in various places throughout the country and yes San Antonio has its own unique version of how yield works.

Most highways are slowly removing the yield signs. I'm guessing because too many were treating it like a stop sign.
