I just read a very good article on NBC news complete with choice quotes. It won't win over those who want to stall progress but for those who already desire change, especially here in Texas, Castro's views are hopeful, more than hopeful in that he will be one among others who will guide us into a new future.

Who is Julian Castro and can he deliver in the spotlight? - First Read

The next link is more biographical. In addition to being a rising star he and his brother are going to be seen, more and more, as near-mythical due to being born on Diez y Seis and having a mother with cred.

Meet Julián Castro, The 2012 DNC Keynote Speaker | TPMDC

Good bye, good ole boys! I think some are just afraid we will use their example, of how they treated others all these years, to treat them in turn. Some of us hope to do better.

Anyhow, that was years ago when he was in his 20's.

Bottom Line: Glad to see our mayor grab the national spotlight.
bottom line: certain other groups do the same thing youre griping about (dragging up the past). where is your faux.outrage at them??\

LOL. omg is this what those who support castro actually believe??? you DO realize you're in texas.. and this state will never go blue... right?

you wont get very far 'treating the good ol boys like theyve treated us'. you realize they have all the guns, right? LOL so funny.

I don't know what every Castro supporter believes so I wouldn't characterize them as all being progressive.

The good ole boy network is certainly regressive.

Starting in this city, when we turn purple, then blue, it is very likely that everyone will be treated more fairly than they are now.

So who is being treated unfairly? Some examples perhaps?

Default Could you,Snake,

Possibly be that naive? As to think all are treated fairly? Not worthy of a response.
Every once in a while there is a very gullible poster on here, that can keep things lively ...
Do you need examples ? Or firsthand experiences? Names , places ?
If you cannot already understand what Merovee is writing, a personal explanation will not help.
Another Einstein on here has already mentioned firearm ownership as a response to this topic .
Exactly the discussion that is cogent here after what happened in Colorado, just the other week.

Snake...you're not going to get a good answer from them. They'll just answer your logical question with more questions to try and act smarter.

The SA progressives will always want things to be more and more and more equal until we're all equally poor and downtrodden. They don't want more. They just want everyone else to have less.

San Antonio has just received another AAA bond rating from Standard & Poors, Fitch, and Moody's. San Antonio is the only city in the country with more than 1 million people to keep the AAA bond rating this year and has had this rank since 2008. Castro and Sculley must be doing something right.

Very interesting thread, keep it coming!

Anyways, Mayor Castro is speaking at the DNC. Good for him. I personally think it's an attempt to entice as many Hsipanics as possible but hey, what do I know? He sounds like a smart guy who has a bright future ahead of him in politics. The only reason I'm going to watch the convention is to see what he has to say. But it's not like him speaking at the DNC is going to switch my views.
