I will be arriving in San Antonio around 7pm on a Monday night and leaving the next day around 4pm. Is all of the nightlife concentrated on the riverwalk? Is there any places that are good to see outside of the downtown/riverwalk and el mercado?

Since you are going to be here on a Monday night, this is probably one of the rare occasions that I would suggest the River Walk. And it will probably be pretty dead there too. Anyone else know of anyplace that has big doings on Monday night? You never know there may be someplace that does a Monday night deal that is popular but I've never heard of it. I would try to get here on Friday afternoon and stay the weekend if that's possible.

Since you only have one night, don't walk the Riverwalk, take a boat tour. It's more efficient and more informative. You won't have to bother with maps and you'll have seen the highlights of the Riverwalk in an hour. You'll get a history lesson, too.

+1 to what Bo said. I'll also add that you could take the elevator to the top of the Tower of the Americas and have dinner, drinks, or just go to the observation deck. That way, you'll get a great perspective of SA's history from the ground (Riverwalk boat tour) and then get a bigger perspective of the city. Highly recommend going to the top just before dusk...the city looks fabulous that time of day!
