I bought our LG washer/dryer set about a year and a half ago at BB. They had the best price, online or B&M. Bought online, scheduled online, delivery and installation went perfectly.

We've also had very good experiences with their mobile department.

My son sells his used games, etc., there, because they pay more than Game Stop, especially when they have bonus credit promotions.

Other than the above three items, though, we do Altex, Monoprice, or Amazon.

I love you for loving Monoprice

Best cables. Cheap prices. Amazing website.

My relationship with then won't change. I'll go in there to look around, find something I like, then go home and order it cheaper in Amazon.

Sorry, but after buying one of their Insignia brand TVs based on their recommendation that crapped out after a year and was not repairable, I won't step foot in that chain again!

By the way, we replaced that TV with a Philips that is still running strong after almost five years. We've also bought a few Vizio brand TVs from Walmart which are also working fine after several years.

Best Buy can "re-invent" themselves all the want, but until they stop carrying overpriced crap and hiring employees who don't have a clue as to what they are selling, it'll be the same lousy store that it ever was. I am surprised it hasn't followed Circuit City's path down the drain...

going to best buy is like going to walmart for us: every once in a blue moon we go in, instantly regret it and wonder why were ever went there in the first place.

i guess some folks like the experience, but i have to agree with most here. if they aren't going to bother having knowledgeable staff or stock the things they advertise at prices that are even remotely competitive, there's little point for us to go there.

Circuit City also reformatted itself before going bankrupt.

Something bigger seems to be going on. Borders, Circuit City, and soon Best Buy.

The big-box stores which killed not only the mall but mom and pops are now struggling to remain profitable in the face of internet shopping.

I wonder how much superstores (bigger boxes) like Walmart, Target, and even H-E-B cut from the big boxes? Big-box stores sell many products within one category, these superstores sell everything even electronics. Quality will only get worse and worse as will variety.

Clearly independent electronic stores were better than Best Buy but Best Buy is better than H-E-B or Walmart.

though i know nothing about the biz, and based only on our own experiences, i doubt stores like walmart and heb have as big an impact on stores like best buy as one might think. if i'm not buying from best buy, i'm sure as hell not buying it from walmart instead. but again, that's just us and i could be wrong. i would think that the online vendors are a greater threat to physical stores like best buy. i don't think this is always the case for big box stores, but electronics seems to be the kind of products that fare better online for price, quality and selection than they ever could in stores, best buy, walmart or otherwise.

I'd rather buy my video games from Steam, my cables from Monoprice, and everything else from either Amazon or Walmart.

I remember a while back, I was looking for a video game that had been out for a good while. I went over to the section and looked around for a good bit, but I couldn't find it. I looked around for someone to help, but the guy running the section was running his mouth of to someone who sounded like he was a friend of his. I waited a good 10 minutes to let him end his conversation because I didn't want to be rude, but eventually I was just annoyed. I walked up to him, interrupted his conversation and asked him if he had what I was looking for. He told me "No, we're completely out of that title." So I went back into the shelves annoyed, but I had a strange feeling. I moved a few things around in the COMPLETELY unorganized shelves and found 5 copies of the game I was looking for. After I grabbed a copy, I looked around for the same guy and found him IN ANOTHER CONVERSATION! Out of complete annoyance, I got his attention and put the box of the game in his face and said, "You had 5 copies of the game sitting on your shelves!" The look on his face and his complete silence was all worth it.

That's just one of the several stories I have about how bad BB is.

We avoid Best Buy due to previous experiences that were far from pleasant. We've purchased our last two TVs and Home Theater systems from Bjorn's. Bjorn's has absolutely the best customer service I've ever experienced from this type of retailer AND they priced the items competitively!
