Last weekend I was over on Laureate Drive (I10/Huebner) and driving past the old Clarke American buildings. I was expecting to come out on Prue Road, but they had completely rebuilt it. It was professionally and drastically reconstructed and forced me to turn left (past the fitness center) towards Fredericksburg. That used to be the beginning of Prue and went west all the way to Babcock and beyond. It's kind of hard to describe.

Does anyone know what was done here exactly? I didn't bother to drive around to see where Prue ended.

Another person commented on this 2 years ago (will try to add the link), but essentially Research Blvd was created and serves as an extension to Huebner, probably due to the awful congestion that already exists from Prue to Huebner on Fredericksburg.

This thread briefly shows when this was finished.

Really. I didn't know it had been done that long ago.

It's actually quite nice if you're on Huebner and want to get to Babcock during early rush hour. You avoid all the congestion at Babcock and Huebner. During the De Zavala construction this was one of the only ways to get around the construction.

Thanks. I knew there must have been a good reason for the change.

I couldn't tell you the exact reason why, but, for me, that was why.

There was always a ton of traffic turning left there from Fredericksburg. It makes sense to direct them further down Huebner and not have to deal with a traffic light.

At the same time, it probably also helped the mass of employees leaving the Clarke/West area (or whatever businesses are on Laureate) coming from the other direction, who used to have to wait for the traffic (both ways) to turn left onto Prue in order to get to Fredericksburg.

Basically, it looks like they made it so that people could make more right turns in that area.
They eliminated 2 left turns.
