Hi,
My family is planning to move to SA next summer, and I'm doing some early scouting of different areas. We'd like somewhere semi-urban where we can walk to a lot of places, and based on what I've seen from this board our front runners are Alamo Heights, Terrel Hills, and possibly Mahncke Park. My big concern with Mahncke Park is the school district; is SAISD as bad as it appears?

Also, if we live in Alamo Heights do we get taxed twice (by the county and the town, or by the city and the town)? I find it all pretty hard to figure out on my own. Our home price range is $175K to $250K, so what would the taxes for something in that range look like? We'd like to roll all the property taxes into our mortgage, so we're trying to figure out how much house we REALLY can afford.

Thanks in advance for your help!

In Alamo Heights for what you're asking, you can look forward to the following:

3 bedroom - 2 bath - 2,000 sq. ft. - $229,000
