Hello All,
I noticed today that my garbage disposal unit (Badger 1) has developed a leak and water has collected on the particle board surface under my kitchen sink. The garbage disposer is leaking from the bottom and, based on my rather quick research online, it looks like I need to replace it.
However, I am afraid that I may be dealing with a more severe issue. The leaking water has damaged the particle board surface (it looks warped) and may have seeped into the space between the cabinet and the wall. Also, from outside my house and in the area just outside of the kitchen sink, I am able to see water stains on the exposed concrete foundation.
Could someone please offer some recommendations on who I should contact to take care of these issues? I can get a plumber (e.g., Roto Rooter) to fix the garbage disposal unit; but, I am not sure whether they will address cabinet repair...
Thanks much!

Garbage disposals are fairly easy to replace generally. Especially if you can find another identical new replacement. Call a qualified plumbing company. They can do the replacement or repair whatever is leaking and probably recommend a carpenter. Or have the repairs made and look for a handyman that can do the cabinet work. Many times a leak is where the crossover pvc pipe comes out the side of the disposal. A quick trip to Home Depot or Lowe's with the leaky part could lead to an inexpensive self repair.

Is the garbage disposal working? Does the garbage disposal come on and do the blades turn? Check for leaks and back ups before replacing your garbage disposal otherwise you might have the same problems. Sometimes gunk prohibits the disposal from working and it might need to be taken off and cleaned out. Disconnect your power remove connections and twist off the disposal from underneath.
