KQXT-HD2 on FM 101.9 (San Antonio, Anton: vehicle, station, radio)

Does anyone else listen to this 24-hour jazz station?

It requires an HD receiver. I have a portable one but I sometimes get an error message "no longer available" when it does not pick up the channel. I'm not sure what the problem is, because it will pick it up fine in the same exact areas sometimes.

No doubt. If I had access to some kind of portable internet radio there would be a lot of other good similar stations choices also.

True. I can't listen to local radio anymore because of all of the great stations I've found on the net. It even blows satellite radio out of the water (IMO).

If your HD radio has a connection for an external antenna, maybe placing it near a window in various positions might help to lock on to the signal better. Or if it's battery powered, perhaps a low battery is affecting it's ability to receive stations.

HD radio, like HDTV, suffers from what's called the "cliff effect." When the signal level is too low, you don't get bad reception, you get no reception - it just falls off of a cliff. Improving your antenna or changing your location are the best ways to improve reception in a vehicle.

I have HD radio in my vehicle and the cliff effect can be maddening when travelling between cities. It's almost as frustrating as a dropped phone call.

local radio is horrible here. I'm happy with the tunein app on my android. radio stations from all over the world
