AFAIK, the city council goes to great pains to distribute resources across the library branches in all council districts equally. It would be a political flashpoint if they didn't.

Some of them have more active "Friends of the Library" groups than others. You can tell which branches' groups are most active by whether the branch has a book sale.

Librarians call Cody "King Cody", if that tells you anything. Their circulation is massive.

We went to Cody when we lived over there but now we go to Westfall. It's a nice little neighborhood library with a wonderful staff.

I haven't been to many, but I'm fond of Semmes on Judson. By the way, the best feature of the library system is that you can place holds online and they'll deliver them to the branch of your choosing, so size matters not!

I have only been to Brook Hollow, Thousand Oaks, and Tobin (formerly known as Oakwell). My favorite is Tobin for the atmosphere. As mentioned above, it's easy to go online and have books transferred, so the branch doesn't matter to me as much anymore. You can also check out some e-books and download language programs such as Pimsleur (much better than Rosetta Stone).

Some branches are building gardens, special playscapes, and even walking trails!

Parman library on wilderness oak near blanco, north of stone oak area, is really nice. The facility is newer and has great features including a children's area with computers and furniture. There are also a number of conference rooms and work areas. The area around the park has a walking trail, sidewalks, benches and playground, and a good amount of the original trees were retained.

I agree with Chaka and Bjmedina24, my three favorite are:

1.) Parman library in Stone Oak (nice big windows with natural light).
2.) Landa library in Monte Vista (used to take my kids to play outside there when they were little).
3.) The big enchilada downtown.
