I am a special education teacher looking for employment in one of San Antonio's school districts by January. I have 16 years experience and also coaching experience. I need advice on the district I have a best chance to get hired in?? I have applied to NorthISD so far just yesterday.

As I understand it, getting a teaching job, mid-year, is very tough. Northside ISD is opening a few brand new schools this August so they will be looking for teachers and support staff to man them. Good luck with your search.

In this market, you probably need to broaden. I'd look at NEISD, Harlandale (some of the schools are good, others aren't)

You could check SAISD, South San, Harlandale, and Judson for schools with behavior (anti-social, violent, etc.) challenges. I think SAISD is actively looking for spec ed teachers with your specialties...

You might also check East Central ISD.

SE is a very in demand field in almost all districts. I would not hesitate to apply in as many districts as possible, especially since you do not mind dealing with "bad students". Here is a pretty good list of all the districts in the area.

Check with the psychiatric hospitals. Clarity has a school program partnership with NISD. Laurel Ridge has a UT charter school program. San Antonio State Hospital partners with SAISD for their school program. There are also school programs in the juvenile justice facilities.
