Hello CDers: I want to send Texas BBQ to family up north. Any suggestions? I looked at New Braunfels Smokehouse (they've been around awhile) and also thought of the Salt Lick.

Would love to hear ideas -- and if you've had any personal experience with any of them. Thanks in advance!

Unless you're determined to place your order in person at a local place, you might want to ask this in the Texas forum, to get a broader response from across the state. There are many famous BBQ places in Texas that would be a long drive from SA.

Go to Lockhart and try some of the places and send from your favorite. It's not a long drive either at only about an hour. Try kreutz and blacks. You should also try city market in lulling

The trick will be getting it to the intended recipient properly, which is why we've been using NB Smokehouse for many years - they've got the procedures (packing AND shipping) down to a science, IMO.

Thanks TexasRedneck.

I was looking for feedback from anyone who has placed a mail order of BBQ. I'm definitely looking for a place that does this professionally -- not driving around to different joints to see if they can mail their food.

The Salt Lick in Dripping Springs has a booming business sending their BBQ. It's pricey, though.
