Manu Ginobili: San Antonio Star Off to Washington? | Bleacher Report

The rumored deal would trade Ginobili and Oberto for the Wizard's Nick Young, Mike James, Etan Thomas, and 5th pick of the draft.

What are your takes on this?

The Spurs would be practically fleecing the Wizards

I agree. Good deal for SA. Getting younger is key.

It's from bleacher report, so trading Bonner for Lebron and a pink elephant are more likely to happen.

The original source for this "trade" is a historically unreliable site that makes up the news moreso than reporting it. Not to mention the air has been cleared by the Washington Post in which it was reported the Spurs contacted the Wizards about what it would take to get their 5th pick. They said Ginobili, the Spurs hung up, well, said no way and then hung up. That was the end of that.

I wonder why they would hang up. Seemed like a fair deal for SA. Ginobili is almost 32 ..maybe has a few more good years at best (if he stays healthy, which he's had trouble doing over the past 2 seasons)..best to get younger.

IMO, the Spurs will never get a better return on Ginobili than they will if they trade him this offseason. Not saying that they should do it, just that there will never be a better time to do it.

This story was picked up by CNNSI in there T&R section. It gave me hope the Spurs had come to there senses, as I was hoping the would have shipped him to the Clippers before the trade deadline for Marcus Camby, Eric Gordon, and their 1st round pick. That turned out to be the 1st overall and another disappointing playoff run for San Anonio. So I hope they are shopping Manu around as we must make a change before it's too late.

This is subjective. If it turns out that he's healthy for the full 82 and has a tremendous season..I think they'd get a better return next year. He'll be one year older...but will have proved that he can stay healthy at that point. There has got to be some doubt out there as to whether he can remain healthy or not.
I'd be willing to let him go now though, for the right deal.

After doing a little research, it seems as though this is the last year of a 6 year deal. Maybe they should move him...now!!

Bye, Ginobili. I won't miss him. Sorry but I never liked him. He always struck me as arrogant, like when he was given an award and that new Kia for which he immediately gave away because his holiness was too above a commoner's car.

I still don't understand his ankle injury. I saw the olympics last year, saw him fall back on his ass, and still fail to see how he busted his ankle as badly as it supposedly was. His ankle must have been made out of balsa wood.
