Keep in mind Texas includes parallel parking as part of the driver's exam.
Isn't that idiotic. There's never a space to park anywhere in Texas where everyone has to have a car.

My son's driver's ed instructor said that they use that to judge your handling of the car...if you cannot handle it well, then they will not proceed further with the road test.

Believe it or not ladies and gentlemen, police officers are human too and just like the next guy, we don't know everything about our jobs. Especially if, like this, it's something you haven't dealt with in many many years. But I do appreciate the concern.

They also must take the vision test. Also if moving from out of the country, you do not have to surrender your license.

You are correct. I drove on a Texas license in the UK for three years. Adjusting to driving on the left wasn't as hard as readjusting upon returning to the US.

I found driving in the UK to be easy if you're in a righthand drive vehicle, it's quite different in a lefthand drive one!

Maybe it's because you have to think about what you're doing instead of it happening "automatically;" but the last time I was there I got a Jaguar XF estate (station wagon) that I had to drive from Heathrow 75 miles north to Huntingdon at night in a freezing rain and despite my GPS being a bit confused (the maps on it were badly outdated), I arrived fairly relaxed.

I was driving on my Texas license as well!

Thank God for that, as getting a driving permit in the UK is not easy!

Luckily, you can drive up to 12 months on your Texas license from the time you enter the UK!

Cheers! M2
