Just curious if anyone in the Shavano Park area has ever had any issues with the quarry, be it noise, dust, etc.

Have a client looking to buy in that area and am looking for some unbiased info. Thanks in advance.

I once was looking at renting an apartments here

Vistas at Vance Jackson Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other San Antonio apartments for rent from ApartmentRatings.com

but the noise was pretty loud so I didn't.

But then again it is right next door.

When I was in high school (early 2000s) you could occasionally here some booms at Clark during the week. The trains were loud too, but I think that has a quiet zone now so that's not a problem. I'm not sure how much blasting is done there anymore, but I do see trains go by every once in a while still.

I think it depends where you are in Shavano Park. The northern side of the community can have issues and I recall a lawsuit a number of years ago due to damage to homes (foundations, windows, etc) that was alleged by the homeowners against the quarry operator. When Willow Wood opened a number of years ago, my wife and I were touring a model home when a quarry blast went off. It was quite shocking and felt like a bomb exploded outside the home.

I like that area but couldn't justify moving into the neighborhood with those issues. I think Shavano Creek, Bentley Manor and other areas further removed from the quarry are much better.
