Does anyone know if Hardy Oak Blvd will connect between Sonterra and Knights Cross due to the opening of Las Lomas Elementary school? There has been a lot of construction and changes to the intersection at Knights Cross/Hardy Oak and was wondering if its being connected further down to Sonterra - which would be awesome!

Someone posted here a while back that that's the eventual plan, but the current use for that land is ranching. As long as the current owners want to continue to use their land that way, it won't be developed.

Default Hardy Oak to Sonterra...

This is what I read recently....

San Antonio District 9 City Councilwoman Elisa Chan, who resides in Stone Oak,

The councilwoman discussed the extension of Hardy Oak Boulevard south from Knights Cross to a new elementary school that is being built.

She added she hopes monies from any future bond election would be used to extend Hardy Oak from Knights Cross to Stone Oak Parkway. She said extending Hardy Oak all the way to Sonterra Boulevard is currently on hold due to the economic recession.

Chan said that under Stone Oak's master plan, Huebner will eventually connect to 281. A quarry currently has 15 years left on the lease of that land, but Chan said she is currently working on an alternative plan.

Given the horrible bottleneck on the north side of 281 and 1604, I don't think it'd be a good idea to run Huebner out to 281 before the northern interchange ramps are built.

Yikes, agreed...

I live right off of Huebner. Traffic now backs up daily in both directions, westbound to Blanco, and Eastbound to Stone Oak Parkway. I can't imagine what will happen if it connected to 281 without the ramps.

FYI: The city is planning to start work later this year on connecting Hardy Oak from Stone Oak to Knights Cross.

Well, that doesn't quite help much, i guess, but it's a step in the right direction.

In December the quarry extended their lease by 10 years, not 15.
