I'm planning my husband's 50th surprise party for October, can you please give me ideas for locations? About 35 people, free party room, inexpensive food, kid friendly. BYOB. Help!

do you not have the money? free party room, cheap food? that is ok if you dont have the money, but if you have the money then you need to go all out and make it memorable. there are many locations in SA. Depending on the date, you can always do one at a park. there is lots of room for the kids, and you can make it like a potluck. people can bring in a plate to share. That is different, nice, and the folks will have a good time. you can even get some entertainment for the kids, i know the kids like the face painting and balloons. there is a guy from san antonio fantasy faces that does good work and if very funny with then kids. that is just an idea.

Where in the city? What kind of budget? A free room and cheap food is very subjective. Be more specific. There are lots of restaurants that would do what you want. Just where and how much is key.

Hmm, I don't know if any place with a free party room will let you BYOB. Restaurants make a lot of their money on alcohol sales. I would think your best bet is to do it at a park as suggested.

True that...and if you rent an area and want to serve alcohol, there will have to be security hired at most places. Just an FYI...if cost is an issue, maybe skip the bottles and avoid having to rent security.
