Sad to have missed this! Any chance of getting together for game 5? (Hopefully there's not a game 6)

I will definitely try and maybe get together for game 5. Where about's are you located MegPet? Maybe we will try and do something closer to you. I would say lets get together to watch game 4 tonight, but I'll be up in Dallas in person watching us avenge the Game 3 loss.

Any of the duck fans want to meet up again to watch game 6 tomorrow? Would love to get together one more time, especially since the last time we did the Ducks won.

I've joined the group. Not sure if I'll be able to go all the way downtown tomorrow, but I will definitely meet up in the future.

i sometimes wonder, why didnt Hemisfair Arena host Ice Hockey games? i know we didnt get hockey untill 1993ish(a CHL team at Freeman and NHL exhibitions at the dome) but why did it take so long for the city to get a Ice hockey team of any kind?

The market just wasnt there in the Sun Belt cities to place a team and have success from a financial standpoint. Houston and Dallas had old professional teams in the 40s and the first version of the Aeros(WHA) for Houston in the 70s before Getting turned down to join the NHL and then subsequently folding. The Atlanta Flames were moved to Calgary in 1980 after eight seasons of falling attendance.

Hockey didnt really come back to Texas until the sport enjoyed a renaissance in the late 80s and 90s(and as cheesy as it sounds, The Mighty Ducks move helped to bring in the young audience from the Sun Belt areas who were never exposed or introduced to the game). Houston gets the 2nd reincarnation of the Aeros in the IHL in 1994, Stars relocate to Dallas from the Minneapolis area in 1994 after the CHL placed two inaugural teams in the Dallas/ Ft Worth area two seasons before, San Antonio gets its first team, the Iguanas of the CHL in 1994 and Austin, San Angelo, Waco, Corpus Christi, Belton, Odessa, and Abilene form the regional WPHL two years later before the league merged with the CHL in 2001.

it took so long because the Hockey wasn't a traditional sport of the American South and Western States.
