A possible revitalization might occur in Quintana Community which used to be a town called South San Antonio until it was annexed in 1944. It would be nice if the magic of that small town could be returned.

Quote:
Andy Castillo and Gilbert Morales, founders of the South San Main Street Project, have worked for more than a year to try to jog the memories of city officials and community members to re-create the environment of the little town around West Southcross Boulevard.

Their project aims to establish a walkable pathway along West Southcross in the Quintana community, including façade improvements, benches, trees and restored sidewalks enabling pedestrians to travel along the street as they did decades ago.

I don't recall any "Magic" in that area. But, a friends dad kept a community veggie garden next to Mopac's Yards. They lived a few blocks north of Southcross off Bynum. 60's -70's. Dead area...Billy Mitchell Village up the street had a little more life back then. Not much though. I think there was a place for dancing and such for military off base in there. Maybe WWII era.. They should clean up the auto "junkyards" on Somerset road first. In fact north of Southcross and south to Military Drive ( either side of Bynum) and further south needs more work than areas closer to Southcross.
