Sorry for the odd question, I've tried to do some googling but I'm not from the area at all and I'm trying to find out if there's a cab service local to the Stone Oak area? All the ones I've found seem to charge extra for going outside of certain limits. I'll be arriving in San Antonio for one day, and need a cab service to take me from the San Antonio Airport to "Fair Oaks Ranch", then from there to Stone Oak, and from there back to the airport (these will be separate trips throughout the day). Thanks in advance for any info! I'd prefer not to rent a car because I get really stressed out driving in areas I'm not familiar with (especially if there's freeways involved), but I will if I absolutely have to...

That's a long way in a cab and it will be expensive. Far cheaper to rent a car.

Indeed. Car rental would be less then $40. I doubt $40 would even get you to fair oak from the airport

I just checked cab fare for the airport to an address on the NW side, and yellow cab quoted $43. That's absurd. You should just do a rental...San Antonio is very easy to drive around in, even considering the horrible drivers. The places you need to visit are all easily accessible and they are not difficult trips, save for a little traffic depending upon time of day.

The only thing about the rental is that I'm coming in on a really early red eye flight with a long stop-over in another state, and it's going to be a longgg day... I get migraines and very dizzy when I'm tired, so I'm a little concerned about having to drive around all day in an unfamiliar area (I don't travel well, clearly haha). Is yellow cab the only one? To be honest, I don't have a problem paying ridiculous fares if it's the safer option, I just don't want to pass out or feel dizzy or something because I do tend to have those symptoms when traveling.

If I do end up having to rent a car, is there a car rental place at the airport? I've never rented a vehicle before so I'm unsure of this whole process!

Well, I was actually looking for Super Shuttle, which is what we use a lot when vacationing and this is for a solo trip for my teenaged son and he's familiar with them, but it doesn't appear they work the SAT airport? Strange, it seems as though we've used them there before. I can't seem to find a shuttle for SAT but I'll try again tomorrow when I'm not exhausted. Cabs are all lined up at the airport, you won't have trouble getting a ride. There are car rental booths on site, if you go that route, or they'll have shuttles to their off-site locations. Just be prepared because cab fares to those destinations will be pretty steep.

Cab fares are set by the city so they will be uniform between all the companies. You can rent a car at the airport, you might want to go to a travel website and make a reservation.

Maybe rent a limo by the hour?

Not as cheap as renting a car, but at least you get someone else who knows their way around to do the driving. I'm sure they have smaller limo options that'll be less showy for one person.

Thank you!! I didn't even think of that, I always book car service (just those normal town cars they have at airports) when I travel to Canada but didn't even think to do it for SA. I'd honestly rather pay for the convenience, I know that sounds bad haha but it's gonna be a lot in one day and that would save me a ton of hassle. Gonna look into it!
