A spider. Good Lord.
Start building the road and I'm sure the little spider will scamper away and find a new home away from the noise and confusion.
Of course our "leaders" will gather up the spiders, send them to therapy and do a multi-million dollar study to make sure we didn't hurt their feelings.

Unless it's one of these, why are we so concerned about a spider that has to pack up it's web and move to a different spot. We all have had to do that at least once in our lives...what's the big deal?

Like I've said before....if this road was proposed to run through a ranchers property, the State would take the land under the "immanent domain" clause and not blink an eye about it. But have the situation surround a spider and oh my god, stop everything immediately. I think it's absolutely wrong on so many levels. I'm glad I won't be around in 100 years to see what our future looks like. In my opinion, this country and our planet are doomed.....

Jeez, they'd better put security on that hole gauging by the anger on this topic, lest somebody go drop a bug bomb in that cave.

Seriously, animals are relocated to preserves or special facilities when endangered. Development is all around that area already and it seems like the only solution would be to carefully relocate those critters to a temperature and humidity controlled artificial environment. If they are so rare its probably their only chance to bring their population back up.
