The Rivard Report published an excellent account from a SoFlo resident.

Quote:
Just across the river is the super-chic (and super-pricey) King William district, and two blocks up the road are the hotspots La Tuna and Blue Star. The engines of gentrification are roaring just a quarter mile north; the newly opened Cevallos Lofts and Steelhouse Lofts cater to the young crowd that wants easy access to downtown and Southtown, but where I live, the nuisances of trains, recycling plants, and poverty keep gentrification at bay. It’s nice. My rent is cheap!

That's weird. The area that guy lives in isn't the South Flores Art District. Not even close. He lives in the Lone Star District.

I believe the editor chose that title based on the galleries in SoFlo, but you're right, it's definitely Lone Star. I'm not sure either are official though.

Regardless, beautiful piece of writing, even if this lifestyle isn't your thing. His spirit exemplifies that which is making San Antonio more than just a "place to buy a cheap house."

There's a Lone Star Arts District. That may be what he's talking about.

Gallista Gallery is on So Flores. Hence the likely confusion.

I'm only guessing, I'm not associated in anyway. I know the Gallista Gallery and immediately think of So Flores. The naming of the districts is pretty loose, IME. Except for King William and a few old timers who claim to be the only ones who can speak for the area, even though they're all from Alamo Heights, most don't care about the specific boundaries.

Honestly, I don't think it takes away from the point of the article.

You will find there is going to be some overlap between names especially since nothing is official yet. For now we can assume some on the ground find SoFlo more appealing than Lone Star even if the latter has a more established name including an existing neighborhood association.

Was this really the best part of the article we could have discussed? I think not.
