SAN ANTONIO - We are off the air due to a fire at the News 4 San Antonio building. The fire is under control and everyone is okay. We just wanted to make you aware.

Programming will be restored once our engineers can reenter the building and assess the damage

The station is dark but according to KABB news, WOAI is still broadcasting but nothing is being broadcast. It shouldnt have any effect once the network cuts to national feeds.

Does anyone have the lyrics to the Happy Birthday Song San Antonio version? You know the one about your pants on the telephone wire and channel 4?

I watched WOAI reporter Kristina DeLeon explain the layout of the station during a live shot aired on KABB.

The fire was upstairs, where the offices are for Sales, HR, and Traffic are located. Directly below those are the Sports offices and the offices for the SA Living Show, which received heavy smoke and water damage. The studio is at the opposite end of the first floor, away from the fire. The news offices are next to the studio, in the same end of the building, away from the fire.

What she didn't explain was where the equipment is that keeps the station on the air and controls the equipment in the studio. That's probably going to matter more than anything else for getting them back on the air.

Water shot from a cannon and smoke dont stay in a designated area...You can smell "burned' from fire damage days and blocks away.

Man, the way Fox was covering it this morning, you would have thought something truly important had happened.

They're owned by the same company. A local chann is off TV as well as the NBC feed. Pretty important. Being cynical (about everything) doesn't make you right.
